Stuck in a rut, or just simply bored? Hop into your car a short drive to Malaysia will cure you. Take the causeway, and you’ll be greeted by the colourful Malaysian culture as soon as you get to the other side of the causeway. The charm and allure of the colourful Malaysian culture is unique to this country and not found elsewhere. The harmonious blend of culture is evident in every facet of the Malaysian life – customs, language, religion, and of course, food. The many celebrations, be it religious or cultural, are commonly celebrated across the ethnic groups.
The Malaysian cultural blend can be likened to that of a batik design – a well known Malaysian craft of cloth-painting using the wax resistance method. The batik involves intricate designs with various different colours blending together on a piece of cloth to form a unique artwork. The colours represent the many different cultures, the cloth is the country, and the thin line of wax represents the fine line that is present between the cultures, not to segregate, but just enough to preserve the uniqueness of each culture.
Speaking of uniqueness, three states with unique cultures are welcoming visitors with their Visit State Year campaign. 2008 is the Visit State Year for the states of Terengganu, Kelantan, and Kedah. Enjoy the rich cultural heritage and natural attractions that the states have to offer.
